Hosts
As a Host you like to gather and connect people. You like personal sharings and intimate conversation. You are not afraid to cut through the chit-chat if guests go of topic and start ranting about celebrities, real estate, cars, or their terrible ex-partner.
Guidelines for Hosts:
1. Host dinners on topics where you are curious, seeking, and personally invested
2. Great dinner invitations are often formulated as dilemmas or questions to share on/explore/discuss
3. Prepare food or order takeaway well in advance
4. Keep the food simple: one simple dish, a glass of bubbles, a few bottles of white wine and a piece of chocolate is great
5. Start on time
6. Open with a 2-3 min. sharing: Make sure that you and all guests share the topic/dilemma/questions (Make sure all Guests get an equal opportunity to share and speak)
7. Remind Guests to try to stay on topic throughout the dinner
8. Facilitate a 1 min. check-out: where all Guests share a ‘highlight’ and a take-away from the dinner
9. Ask Guests for help filling the dishwasher
10. End on time and make sure everybody leaves together
If you are stressed about both cooking & hosting, you can team up with a friend to co-host or order takeaway.
