From 3 experienced Dinnr hosts

1. You can host a dinner in a ‘shoebox’-size apartment
It does not matter how you live. Really! I used to live in a shoebox. Now I have more square meters. I know some might be self-conscious about showing their home to new people. But really, you can host a dinner in a palace or a shoebox size apartment.
2. Make a simple dish
People might think you need to be a chef to host a dinner. You don’t! Cook something simple. At my first dinner I cooked an Indian Dahl, with some rice, salat and bread. It was super easy but delicious.
3. Team up with a friend
It’s great to team up with a friend. It’s practical. One can take care of the food and the other one facilitate. But it is also so much more fun to have someone to plan and look forward to the dinner with.

1. Just do it
I loved Dinnr from the first time I heard about it. It tags into a lifelong dream about gathering people around the table to share and inspire each other. Dinnr makes it easy to bring new and interesting people to that table.
2. Follow the format
What I love about Dinnr is that the format works! It makes it so much easier to host a dinner, even after a busy day at work. So my best advice is to follow the format and see if you as a host, can lean back and see the magic play out.
3. Put a little ceremony into it
When you gather people who haven’t met before, it’s important to have a framework that makes everybody feel safe. Dinnr is very different from a family, social, or networking dinner. So my advice is to put a little ceremony into it. Start by making sure that all guests commit to, that was is shared at the dinner stays at the dinner. Ritualise and celebrate the sharings and the check-out.

1. Share about something close to heart
My most important advice is to share about something close to your heart. Something that you yourself might not have figured out. That’s a great offset for a interesting Dinnr.
2. Stop worrying
My best advice is to stop worrying whether you are a good host or how your apartment looks. Take it easy and remember to enjoy the evening.
3. don’t try to impress
Cook something simple. I made a Chicken Curry with some rice. Don’t jump around to try to please the guests. I made it clear from the beginning of my first dinner, that people should feel at home. I asked everybody to help make the table, serve food and clean up. That created a relaxed atmosphere from the start.
